Dr. Christine 艾略特 comes to Principia College with teaching experience both in the US and abroad. 艾略特 taught 英语 for academic purposes for several years in Laos and Vietnam and has also worked in 英语 as a Second Language programs at the University of Maine, University of Wisconsin, and most recently the University of Delaware 英语 Language Institute’s Academic Transitions Program. Working at the Center for Teaching and Learning, 艾略特 continues to help students develop their academic reading and writing and also assists with the many varied programs offered by the Center in support of students and faculty.

I became interested in teaching through my own experiences as a language learner. Experiences in college as a volunteer tutor led to an interest in studying 英语 as a Second Language and opportunities to teach 英语 to multilingual learners in a variety of settings in the US and abroad.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO FIELD

艾略特 served as an 英语 Teaching Fellow at the National University of Laos (then Dong Dok Teacher Training College) in the early 1990s as Laos was slowly reopening to the West. Many years later she returned to the same institution to conduct her doctoral research focusing on the literacy practices of Lao university students
